Glutathione has been called “the mother of all anti-oxidants”, “the master detoxifier” and “the maestro of the immune system”.  I like to call it a “wonder drug”, especially for the lungs and respiratory system.

Glutathione can be nebulized into gas and delivered directly to the lungs and sinuses, thus, providing a safe, non-invasive treatment to support your body’s healing and speed up recovery time.

The flu and cold season this year really seems to be knocking people out. Your best treatment is prevention, ensuring you have sufficient stores of the body’s natural immune molecules like zinc, vitamin C and D and take supportive herbs as soon as you come in contact with someone who is sick, even before you start noticing signs yourself. Once you have the flu, you can lessen its severity and length by continuing the supportive therapies and going for a nebulized glutathione treatment.

respiratory illness

This therapy may be helpful in the following:

  • upper & lower respiratory tract infections (colds and flus)
  • cystic fibrosis
  • COPD
  • idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
  • chronic otitis media with effusion
  • farmer’s lung
  • bronchiectasis
  • bronchitis
  • pneumonia
  • chronic rhinitis
  • chronic sinusitis
  • chronic congestion
  • asthma
  • multiple chemical sensitivity disorder

Many lung-related conditions are affected by poor host defenses, oxidative stress and poor oxygenation; glutathione is an excellent choice for correcting these imbalances. In addition, the process of nebulization allows it to be delivered directly to the pulmonary tissue.

As you can see, even very serious and difficult-to-treat diseases yield benefits from this novel treatment. Best of all, GSH inhalation is very safe – as a matter of fact, we produce our own glutathione in the liver but unfortunately, stress, aging, infections, poor eating habits, pollutants, radiation and toxins all deplete your stores.

Dr. Mark Hyman, MD likens the sulfur in glutathione to fly paper, whereas all the ‘bad’ things in the body stick onto it, including toxins, heavy metals and free radicals. It has also been shown to be essential in both the innate and adaptive response of the immune system.

Who Can Get Nebulized Glutathione

Both children and adults can benefit from this treatment.  We warn patients that it smells a little like rotten eggs, which children usually find amusing.

If you have a sulfur sensitivity or allergy, this treatment is not for you.

At Naturopathic Living, we charge $15 + the cost of the solutions to nebulize, usually an extra $5 to $15, making it a relatively cheap, yet efficient therapy.
