Dr. Edward Chan, Chiropractor
Welcome to “Device of the Month”! Let’s continue to help ease poor posture from the recent rise in sitting (work and school from home).
What is this device? The Laptop Stand, they come in different configurations and price points and designed to elevate your laptop’s screen. The one shown is portable, adjustable, and allows for cooling of your laptop.
Why do I like this? It can ease neck and back strain by encouraging better a better posture. Many stands are adjustable so you can find a fit for you. Also, to complete your ideal setup, you need to add an external keyboard and mouse. This will ease the bunching of your hands and arms while typing.
How to set up? Place the stand at a distance where you would place a computer monitor. Open your laptop to an angle around 100-120 degrees (be careful not to damage the hinges). Placed the opened laptop on the stand, connect the external (wired or wireless) keyboard and mouse.

Don’t forget to take regular breaks and stretch throughout the day.
